COOKING THERAPY, OR COOKING AS A HEALING METHOD
The ability of individuals to move using muscles is part of fine motor skills. And, this motor is one of the important aspects for human development that must be developed. One method of developing fine motor skills is through cooking activities. This activity is fun for anyone. For children, of course, using ingredients that are easy to process and do not involve sharp objects too often for cutting, peeling or dividing. For children, they can be involved in making bread or pizza. This cooking activity refers to learning where you/your family/children are directly involved in a ‘homey’ cooking class guided by an experienced chef.
In today's modern era, almost everyone realizes that cooking is closely related to the importance of health and food. Although not everyone has the will to cook. Whether we realize it or not, we actually feel the calming energy of cooking, commonly called comfort food. As children, we often ask; What are you cooking, Mom? Can I help? In fact, it is not uncommon for us to see, pay attention to, and even involve ourselves in helping our mother/father cook.
And, the emotional value of cooking arises when thinking about recipes for cooking food.
Cooking is not just a finished process. Not many people realize that the movement in cooking has therapeutic value in the context of restoring and balancing between cognitive functions and certain motor functions. If this is implemented and maintained consistently, it can be an alternative therapy to prevent the emergence of certain diseases, and even as an alternative cure.
Cooking is good for everyone.
Cooking is not just a finished process and not just a hobby because it becomes a pleasant need. Start learning to realize that cooking is a movement combined with effective improvisation to organize anxiety that is closely related to past experiences and or related to the imagination of events that have not happened.
The effects of cooking as an alternative therapy are peaceful! Able to reduce the causes of clinical symptoms caused by the brain's workspace, namely starting from the cerebellum coordinated with
motoric ones that lead to various types of cognitive problems or disorders including dementia, Alzheimer's, eating disorders, and many others. Combined with light activities or movements that are repeated towards increasingly complex movements. In terms of method and seen from its activities, cooking can be categorized as an alternative treatment or therapy method that we encounter. So, there is nothing wrong with making cooking a real implementation of efficient and effective therapy to prevent the emergence of certain diseases.
